Donald Gene Froedge, went home with the Lord on August 2, 2010. Born in Edmonton/Metcalf County, Kentucky, October 10, 1930. He was the son of John Alex and Matilda Anne (Ferguson) Froedge.Don graduated from Crawfordsville High School in 1949. After graduation he served in Korea, a war veteran, he served from 1951-1953.Upon return from the service he swiftly married his high school sweetheart, Sara Lee (Hultz) Froedge. They married in Orlando, Florida on October 7th 1953. Together they raised five children, Donita (David) Patton of Layfayette, Jane (Gary) Mitchell, Daniel (Marjorie)Froedge, John (Debbie) Froedge all of Crawfordsville and Eric (Melinda) Froedge of New Castle. He was engaged in farming for many years. After leaving the farm he was an over the road driver for several companies, retiring in 2007.Don was a member of the Whitesville Christian Church, and American Legion post 72. He was preceded in death by three bothers, Ralph, Harold & Elton and one nephew Bruce Froedge. He is survived by his wife (and love of his life) of 57 years Sara, Five children, 12 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, his only sister, Mary Goldena Davis of Crawfordsville, and one brother Orice Lee Froedge of Hoover, Alabama, many nieces and nephews, cousins, friends, and his Whitesville Church family.A calling will be at the Whitesville Christian Church from 3:00pm – 6:00pm, Thursday August 5. A memorial service after visitation will be held in his honor at 6:30pm that same evening. Mike Whitacre will be in charge of the service. The family has chosen a private graveside service at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family has requested you make contributions to the Whitesville Christian Church.
